June 2024 - To The Rescue!

June 2024 - To The Rescue!

ELEMENTARY LESSONS:

MEMORY VERSE:

"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy." Titus 3:5a

June 2: Jesus is the New Moses

Synopsis: We will begin by detailing the parallels between Jesus and Moses in a fun, and visually compelling way.
Scripture: Exodus 2, Baby Moses/Out of Egypt

June 9: Jesus is our Passover Lamb

Synopsis: By the blood of the lamb, the Israelites were saved from the threats of slavery and death. Jesus is our sacrificial Lamb. And by His blood, we are saved.
Scripture: Exodus 7-12, Passover

June 16: Jesus succeeded where Israel failed

Synopsis: The Israelites spend 40 years being “tested” in the wilderness. By most accounts, they failed this test miserably. But Jesus succeeded where Israel failed. In the wilderness, He resisted temptation, and overcame sin. Not only did Jesus succeed where Moses and the Israelites failed, He also succeeds where we fail. We have all sinned. But we are saved by the perfection and sacrifice of Jesus.
Scripture: Exodus 32, In The Wilderness

June 23: Jesus’ teachings are greater than Moses’

Synopsis: At the sermon on the mount, Jesus revised some of Moses’ commandments, and reversed others. And he wrapped everything up by saying that the entire Law can be summed up with the words, “Do to others what you would have them do to you.” Here, Jesus simplifies, clarifies, and demystifies what the Law of Moses was all about.
Scripture: Exodus 20, The Ten Commandments

June 30: Moses was a harsh judge, but Jesus offers amazing grace.

Synopsis: There are many accounts of Moses punishing the Israelites for their many sins. While some accounts are extremely violent and brutal, we will look at one that is a bit more kid-friendly. When Moses came down from receiving the commandments, and found the Israelites worshiping a golden calf, he ground the idol into dust, threw the gold dust into water, and forced the Israelites to drink it. This way, their gold could never be recovered. While Moses was harsh and punitive, Jesus is just the opposite. Instead of punishing us, Jesus took our punishment. He became our sin.
Scripture: Exodus 32, Moses Punishes The Israelites
